Earache, also know as Otalgia, is primarily caused by problems in the outer ear or the middle ear. However, earache is not always associated with an ear infection or disease. Other causes for earache include tonsillitis, sinus infections, impacted teeth and infections in the nose and pharynx.
Ear wax can be difficult to remove and often requires a specialised ear solution to break it down. Hardened wax may cause additional problems such as ear pain or difficulty in hearing.
Ear plugs can be used for noise reduction and also to help with changes in ear pressure such as during swimming or flying.
