Ringworm

Scalp ringworm can be held at bay by anti-fungal shampoos, such as Selsun or Nizoral. This is not a cure and in most cases you will need to see your GP for a cure.

Most cases of body ringworm, including groin infections, can be treated using an over-the-counter antifungal cream.

  • Apply the antifungal cream daily to the affected areas of skin for two weeks.
  • The cream works best when applied over the rash and to one inch of skin beyond the edge of the rash.
  • The chances of re-infection can be reduced if you continue the use of the cream for 2 weeks after symptoms subside.
  • Visit your GP if your symptoms have not improved after 2 weeks of treatment as you may need antifungal tablets.
