Why do I need this medicine?
Hydrocortisone helps to relieve itch and minor skin irritations. It can also relieve symptoms caused by dermatitis, eczema and psoriasis.

Hydrocortisone belongs to a group of medicines called steroids.

How do I use this medicine?
Apply Hydrocortisone exactly as directed by your doctor. Do not apply more often or over a larger area than instructed by your doctor. Do not use for a longer period of time than instructed by your doctor.

Wash and dry your skin gently before applying Hydrocortisone.

Apply a thin layer sparingly to the affected area. Rub it in gently until it disappears. Do not cover, wrap or bandage the area, unless instructed by your doctor.

Do not apply Hydrocortisone near the eye area. If Hydrocortisone accidentally gets into your eyes, flush your eyes with clean water immediately.

Do not apply on a child's skin unless instructed by the child's doctor. If you are applying Hydrocortisone on your child, do not use tight-fitting diapers or non-breathable materials.

Do not use Hydrocortisone for anything else other than the purpose instructed by your doctor.

When should I not use this medicine?
Alert your doctor if you are pregnant or if you become pregnant while being treated with Hydrocortisone.

Hydrocortisone may make your skin more sensitive to sunlight. Avoid exposing the affected area to sunlight.

Do not apply Hydrocortisone to large areas of your skin.

Alert your doctor if your condition does not improve or worsens.

What side effects could I experience?
Hydrocortisone may cause skin irritation such as a stinging sensation, itch, dry skin, thinning of the skin and small changes in skin tone.

These side effects are usually not common and are not a cause for worry, especially if you are using Hydrocortisone for only a short period of time.

Stop using Hydrocortisone and consult your doctor if the skin irritation does not go away.
